People who generally refuse advice are usually described as incorrigible. In the case of this rug it is an unqualified compliment. Through the freedom to experiment with colors and new materials, textile design emerged as an art form in its own right at the Bauhaus. Anni Albers, who succeeded Gunta Stölzl as head of the weaving department at the Bauhaus from 1931, originally created this design in 1926 for a wall hanging made of wool and silk. The gouache from the collection of the Museum of Modern Art was the template for this limited carpet edition by the English textile manufacturer CHRISTOPHER FARR. The company is a member of 'Care & Fair', an Indian organization active against child labor and for the training of young people.
