Who is the real artist here? Miguel Chevalier or the robot that creates drawings for him? This robotic arm was actually designed for packing and unloading goods. Without complex programming by an engineer and instructions from the artist, it would not be capable of drawing. Artist and machine become creative partners and create works of art together. This collaboration between man and machine is not new in art: as early as 1959, Jean Tinguely developed his so-called Méta-Matics drawing machines, which were intended to automate art production.
